It’s new mix time again. This time I dredged up loads of really old stuff. Not your stereotypical old skool set for sure… Take a look at the track list to see why.

Unfortunately, the more popular the tubes of the internet become, the more hotlinking happens.
For those who don't know, it's the act of linking to assets on another person's site, meaning that instead of using your own bandwidth, you're using someone elses.
I get alot of this. Mainly from people on crySpace or random forums either using the originals of photos I've taken, or using my mixes in flash players. Due to this, this site is pulling well over 50GB a month.
So, it's time to fight back..... mod_rewrite is your friend, and while if people are clever it doesn't stop them, it does allow a little fun with those who have no real idea of what hotlinking is and it's implications.
So, for the moment at least, if you link to one of my mixes from slySpace or you try and download a mix without a referer set, you'll get the lovely (and sometimes quite haunting) melody of the french national anthem... a far cry from what you're expecting.
Same goes for the pictures as well, although depending on how mean I feel these could give unexpected results.
It's not really me being bloody minded about this, but I have to watch the resources my site uses, and I just don't have the time to politely ask every person on the face of the planet who hotlinks to not do so. So, If you want to host, or provide a link to one of my mixes or pictures, then do so, but host it on your own space, or link directly back to this site, and give credit where credit is due.... it's not much to ask.
For the moment at least, the listen links will not work, as mp3 player software can't really send referer info. You'll just have to download and save the mixes. If anyone has any problems downloading stuff directly from here it'll be down to you not sending referer information from your browser. Chances are, if you're not, you know how to turn it on.
At some point soon I'll have to sort out a more workable solution, but I don't have the time to spend on it right now
If there are any other problems, reply to this entry and I'll see what I can do ;)

It’s only a short one as I don’t have much of this stuff.
Warning: NSFW The title says it all. Definitely not one to play round the Christmas tree while you’re opening your presents!

Wow, two in the space of a month! This one’s full of all the old classic happy hardcore tunes. This is about as far as the HH stuff went for me. After this it got a bit too sickly and I stuck to the Jungle and nasty techno (which reminds me, I better do one of those soon! ;)
Oh, and the last tune isn’t HH, but I had to put it in there ‘cos it’s a classic….
As usual, post your comments, flame it to hell if you care :)

This is a green tree frog. They’re quite common round Queensland and love to hide in drainpipes and other such places.

Green Tree Frog
They don’t seem at all bothered by people, and I was able to get really close to take this picture. This one was about 10cm or so in length which probably makes it a female.
They’re occassionally olive brown in colour and always look like they’re smiling.

One thing we seem to have an absolute abundance of in our garden is reptilian life.

Geckos
If you walk around the outside of the house at dusk you will easily spot about 30-40 geckos. The nice thing about these little buggers is they eat all the mosquitos and other flying nasties that can’t think of anything better to do that chomp down on some unsuspecting person, just sitting around outside.
These guys can be seen clinging to the walls and ceiling waiting for anything to come along. Some are up to about 6 inches in length, and I’ve seen one carrying a garden cockroach off in it’s mouth.

Went up to Mt Coot-tha in Brisbane over the weekend which has a stunning view of the city. I believe it’s the highest point in the city.
This gave me a great opportunity to have a play with some of the free panorama software that’s about. I ended up using Hugin with Autopano-sift. It all takes a bit of work to get it coming out exactly right, and I should’ve locked exposure and focusing between shots, but it came out ok. This shot works out to be about 160 degrees
Click on the picture below to have a look at the full shot.

I was going to get the mower out the other day when I walked into a spider’s web that was strung between a tree and the side of the house.

eeek!
This was the thing that made it. Just to give you a sense of scale, the abdomen was about the size of a strawberry. Now, while I’m not an araknophobe at all, walking into this thing did scare the absolute crap out of me.
I’ve found out that this is a
golden orb weaver. It’s not exactly the most dangerous of spiders, but I didn’t know that at the time.
